Guggul (Cummiphora mukul)
Guggul (Cummiphora mukul) is a gum resin that is obtained from a tree native to India. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic practices for many years, Guggul is now well-recognized for promoting cardiovascular health and for helping to maintain cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range.
The active ingredients in Guggul are Guggulsterones, with Guggulsterones Z & E being the specific constituents that have been scientifically linked to maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.
In addition, Guggul has been shown to help neutralize Nuclear Factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB), which is involved with some inflammatory reactions in the body. In turn, this helps knees and other joints to function comfortably.
Also, Guggul supports thyroid function by helping to normalize T3/T4 levels, supporting the thyroid’s ability to properly absorb iodine, and enhancing the activity of a number of important thyroid enzymes.
